2026 is the 5th season of the Educational Classic Film Series, a cinematic cultural literacy program intended to introduce middle school and high school students to the art of film as it was developed by the acknowledged masters of the craft during the Golden Age of Hollywood (mid-1930s to the early 1960s). In this era a unique mix of economic, cultural and social conditions aligned perfectly for the making of great movies by the score.

The finest Golden Age films represent the height of cinematic craft, pairing gifted screenwriters with master directors in a proven storytelling tradition. Supported by the studio system’s vast resources—sound stages, technical talent, and celebrated stars—Hollywood’s “Dream Factories” produced films powered by versatile character actors and iconic performers alike. These cinematic professionals mastered visual storytelling in ways that still captivate audiences today.

While this program was developed for young students, our screenings are now open to “students” of all ages in our community. This is a cross-generational opportunity to share and discuss films that shaped an industry and defined Hollywood and American culture.
