Event Details

The life of the legendary storyteller Toni Morrison is told through friends, her own words and television interviews. While employed as the first black female fiction editor at Random House, Morrison was rising each day at 4 a.m. to write her own novels, all of which dealt with the black experience, particularly black women. Her novel, Beloved, received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1988 and, in 1993, she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. Morrison passed away on August 5, 2019, a month and a half after this film was released.
